On March 31st, I had the opportunity to sit in on a FUNC recording session. The Furman University News Channel, aka FUNC, publishes new reports for the students and faculty at the university. The studio consists of a 3-camera news set up, an anchor desk, and an editing room in the back.
When I was in the FUNC studio, I gotta sit back and watch how a show recording works. Everything happens on the fly as we got the script literally minutes before Lexia anchored. I learned most of the equipment used in the editing room and how to record a show. Sitting back allowed me to fully take in every position.

Student televisionand news gives hands-on and authentic experiences that students can tune in on. Students in television have the opportunity to develop their communication, editing, and storytelling skills. By giving students a voice through television, it builds a connected and special community in the school.
From my sit-in, I can use the skills I learned and watched from the FUNC crew on bettering my communication and storytelling skills, whether I’m in student television or somewhere else.
