How I Made It Through My First Podcast

I made a podcast on the Tik Tok ban. Not gonna lie, this idea just came randomly at me because I had to think of a topic for my podcast. Before this, I had zero experience with editing softwares. I’ve done the interviewing and storytelling part. It was the editing that scared me.

My podcast focuses on the TikTok ban and how it affected regular users. I interviewed people that have Tik Tok and got their thoughts on the app, the ban, and how the government was approaching the ban. I asked some of my friends who I know use Tik Tok if they wanted to be in my podcast. I ordered a tiny mic off Amazon so they could hook it to their shirt so we could have a conversation about the Tik Tok ban.
I learned a lot about editing and more about the Tik Tok ban during this process. Most of the information I received about anything regarding the Tik Tok ban was on Tik Tok. During this process, I learned about the Meta boycott and how people are deleting any apps associated with Meta because the company removed fact-checking and how the apps are acting differently.

I knew nothing about editing or Adobe Audition before this. I probably watched 10 tutorials on how to use it and I still learn new things every time I edit. As I write this right now, my Adobe Audition is frozen and I have no clue how to fix it, so I’m just praying my progress doesn’t get lost because I would cry. Besides that, I learned how to edit a recording.
I will use my newfound knowledge for future projects and be skeptical when using apps associated with Meta. I am still a beginner when it comes to editing, but I’ve made progress and can edit a recording whenever I need to. Sound mixing has taught me the power of tone—how subtle audio cues can shape emotions, which will influence how I tell stories in the future. From learning about how Meta could be associated with the Tik Tok ban, I’ll be more careful on those apps.
